Our department was first established as "Classroom Education Department" within the body of Hacettepe University in the academic year of 1991-1992. In the 1997-1998 academic year, it was renamed as "Primary Education Department" and transformed into a structure consisting of four main branches: Primary Science Education Division, Primary Mathematics Education Division, Preschool Education Division and Classroom Education Division. In the 2016-2017 academic year, it took its current form as a department consisting of Early Childhood Education Division and Classroom (Elementary) Education Division under the name of "Department of Primary Education".
